On the Trails and the Mt. Washington Auto Road
The Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center offers 45 km of trails for walking, hiking and trail biking. The terrain is easy to moderate, great for family trail riding on hybrids, mountain bikes and fat bikes, which can all be rented on site.
For more than 150 years, the Mt. Washington Auto Road has thrilled visitors. The roadway, which is the first and oldest man-made attraction in the U.S., climbs 4,618 feet from the base and reaches more than a mile in the sky to the highest point in the Northeast at 6,288 feet. While many travelers opt for the self-drive option, there are also guided van tours.
