Mile High Road Tripping

9/16/2020

The Glen House, the award-winning hotel in the heart of New Hampshire’s White Mountains, sits at the base of the Mt. Washington Auto Road. America’s oldest man-made attraction and the most famous mountain drive east of the Rockies, the Mt. Washington Auto Road opened in 1861 to stagecoaches and later to automobiles. The dramatic roadway climbs 4,618 feet from the base and reaches more than a mile in the sky to the highest point in the Northeast at 6,288 feet. Both the views to the Atlantic Ocean and the ubiquitous bumper sticker, “This Car Climbed Mt. Washington,” are as popular as ever.

To mark the year of the American road trip, The Glen House has created The Auto Road Weekender package, a true best of the White Mountains offer during one of the most dramatic fall foliage seasons in the country. The package comes with a two-night stay, Auto Road passes for your vehicle and two adults, two adult 4-hour bike rentals from the adjacent Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center, a keepsake cooler with two boxed lunches, and two adult souvenir t-shirts.
