Stay for the Snow
Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center lies across the road from The Glen House and maintains 28 miles of world-class cross-country skiing, snowshoe, fat biking trails, and a snow tubing hill. The facility has a fully-equipped shop for winter gear sales and rentals.
This is also the departure point for an exciting sub-arctic winter experience, a trip on the Mt. Washington SnowCoach. Board the SnowCoach and travel four-and-a-half miles up the snow-covered Auto Road to the tree line at approximately 4,200 feet on the 6,288-foot mountain, the highest peak in the Northeast. On a clear day, you can see the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast and north into Canada. Reservations should be booked in advance and can be made online at Great Glen Trails.
Alpine ski resorts are a short drive from The Glen House, including Wildcat Mountain, Attitash Mountain Resort, Cranmore, and Black Mountain.
Après Ski
Stretch those ski muscles at the fitness area and indoor saltwater pool. The hotel’s spectacular bar area, with its fireplace, and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on the snow-covered Presidential Range, was named “The Most Beautiful Bar in New Hampshire” by Architectural Digest. The fire pit on the deck is also perfect for après ski. The Notch Grille offers daily breakfast, weekend brunch, a bar menu, and dinner service with a range of comfort food favorites.
Bring the Pooch
Dogs are always welcome at The Glen House. Just ask for a dog-friendly guest room and bring a loyal four-legged companion along for fun in the snow. Pet Policy: A nightly pet fee of $20 will be charged, which includes treats and the use of a water bowl. Based on supply, which is first-come, first-served.
The Glen House is located at the base of Mount Washington in New Hampshire’s White Mountains and was named the Best New Hotel in New Hampshire 2019 by Yankee Magazine and one of the Top Hotels in New England by the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2019. The 68-room property has a restaurant, bar and lounge, gym, indoor saltwater swimming pool, and meeting space.
